Today we took a six hour bus ride from Prague to Budapest. We arrived in Budapest in the early afternoon and immediately checked into our hostel, which looked AWESOME. I feel like it was the epitome of the word “chill”.
Afterwards, we grabbed something to eat and walked around town. We saw the very famous Parliament building and its gardens, both of which were gorgeous. We also wandered over to the Buda side of the river to see the castle, a beautiful church, and the caste’s Labyrinth. (Sidenote: Budapest is divided into two sections; on one side of the river is the Buda side, which is more touristy, and the other side is Pest, where we stayed.) The Labyrinth was really cool. It is essentially an underground maze; it was very dark, and we needed lanterns in order to get through it. At first we got very lost and went in a complete circle, and then we found the correct route, which was marked by arrows (that we failed to notice the first time… DUMB).
At the heart of the Labyrinth is a wine fountain that produces “natural wine from the earth”, which we found out wasn’t really drinkable until we all took a sip. It tasted like vinegar.
Afterwards, we walked more around the Buda side of the city and saw the Parliament building at night, which was really pretty.
